{It is still so new & all we see is the empty space, but that is not how it is in the landscape of the heart. There, there is no empty space & he still laughs & grapples with ideas & plans & nods wisely with each of us in turn. We are proud to have known him. We are proud to have called him friend.} Story People
I have started this post several times this week. Kyle said to me once, "How does it feel to just constantly make peoples day all week? With the blog posts you put up." I couldn't figure out what to write to make his day, and by Tuesday - he was gone.
If I had favorites - this family would be one of them. I first met Kyle and Anna in 2012. They were pregnant with their daughter and we had a maternity session. They make an amazingly photogenic couple - and my little photographer heart was happy. Their daughter was born and we met up again for newborn pictures - and throughout the next several years for family pictures. I even shot a family session for them that sent me into labor with my own baby. We became fast friends. I mean how can you not love them? Laughs all around and completely relaxed, always.
It was May of 2014 that Anna contacted me to reschedule her session. She told me about Kyle. They were getting answers still and very much in shock. We rescheduled her session. And everything went really fast from there. They got married in Paradise ... park. They traveled for more answers. They invited me into their hospital room after baby boy was born this Spring. Then there was Monday. This past Monday. When reality truly hit me.
Being invited into their home, and sharing time with Kyle and his family will forever be cherished in my heart. I went there to document, to be their dutiful memory keeper. I intended to be professional - but then the feelings hit. All the emotion at once. In Anna's words, "I don't like to be sad." Anna, you are brilliant. You kept Kyle going, you kept him so strong. The last session they had over at my place was a little rough. Kyle was in pain, baby girl was being silly. And you were just calm and steady through it all. I watched Kyle watch you. He saw you. He really did. And you saw him. You always kept things light and calm. Your energy was so perfect.
Today, I am celebrating Kyle's life - and before I head over to hug the crap out of Anna + those beautiful kids I am going to leave a couple of my favorites of my dear friends. My inspiration for all things. Love you guys. xo.
