{It doesn't matter where you're going, it's who you have beside you.}
It was so nice to get a good night sleep. We woke up to the kids putting on their swim suits and getting ready for the pool time we promised the night before. After we leisurely cleaned up breakfast our AirBnB host joined us in the backyard to teach us how to use the pool. We learned quickly. Then came the reality of what we were getting ourselves into. An ice bath. When I originally planned out our trip I thought a pool was a pool was a pool. I was wrong. There are HEATED pools and then there are non-heated ICE BATHS. We were signed up for the latter. Please do not ever make this mistake. It was tragic. Visions of a relaxing pool day turned into ice as I tried desperately to "get use to the water." Luckily the kids take after their dad - with their embarrassingly positive attitudes - and decided that playing in the yard and splashing each other from the side of the pool was just as fun. Kenny manned the grill like a boss and we all ate well ... with a great view ... of the pool.
With the notion of a relaxing pool day somewhat "covered" in the itinerary - we decided to move on to warmer things. We spent the afternoon at the Desert Botanical Garden. They have a great scavenger hunt that the kids participated in. They were so into the plants and wild life observing each plant and looking for the particular types they needed in order to cross them off their list. By the end they were telling us about all the plants and wild life like miniature tour guides. We all especially enjoyed the art sculptures throughout the gardens. We ended up getting a mini cacti sculpture to take home as a souvenir. Ironically, we also dodged some rain clouds as we were walking around. Hid under a cactus - I kid you not - from getting wet at one point. It was the first rain Phoenix had seen since January - and we were the lucky ones to get caught in it! Luckily we all dried up quickly and even went on a short hike (lets call it a shuffle) to the Hole in the Rock for a great view after the Botanical Garden Tour. It was a little crowded so we agreed to come back another day to explore if we got time. We ended the night at another Mexican Restaurant - and our sweet girl discovered a true love for salsa!
