{We haven't been everywhere, but it's on our list.}
Our last day in Phoenix was a full one! We spent time with one of Kenny's Aunt's in the morning + then grabbed some coffee (and water!) for a packed day of sight seeing. We started at the Idea Museum we had a discount because of our Madison Children's Museum membership. We didn't spend a whole lot of time there because it was fairly busy with school groups. There was TONS of crafting. Which the kids are super into - but with our light packing situation we didn't want to get too invested into a project! We ended up spending some time in their entrance exhibits before deciding that we would pass on the actual museum and head out to the Phoenix Zoo for the day. On our way we also stopped off at the Cubs Spring Training Field and left with promises to take the kids to a game in Chicago some day!
Finally, we got to the Zoo. Baby girl was already asleep and we all joked that she had to learn how to roll with the Sola crew if she was going to last on family trips! The zoo was FULL of stuff to do. We went on a train ride that covered the whole zoo, fed sting rays, went on a camel ride, relaxed on a carousel (probably about 30 times around!) and ended the day with a 4D movie - complete with water works, and moving seats and everything! The boys were so good with the map - we didn't even have to check it out - they took us every where we wanted to go. It really allowed Kenny and I to focus on the sight seeing. I loved the monkey exhibit. They actually put you inside the monkey house with the monkeys. It was so cool to see them flying by!
After the zoo - we went for one last hike up to the Hole in the Rock - it was far less crowded and we really enjoyed the view. We were able to soak in one last sunset in Phoenix. We drove back to the AirBnB, packed up the car and taught Noah how to play solitaire. Everyone rested up for our 1AM flight out of Phoenix. It was strange leaving the same way we came - in the middle of the night. But all the same - super fun. We got home at 9AM with some considerable jet lag! So thankful for a husband willing to stay awake through the night and keep us all alive on the drive back from Chicago at 6AM. It will definitely be our last overnight flight for a WHILE. All the same - I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! :]
